Phyllostachys bissetii Dwarf Bisset

Phyllostachys bissetii 'Dwarf' bamboo is a vigorously growing species whose culms are somewhat darker green than "Golden Bamboo" with whitish patches on the culms. It appears to be more hardy than P. bissetii bamboo. It is one of the first species of the genus to shoot in spring. Shoots are edible but the grove needs to mature to produce a diameter to make harvest worthwhile. Used for tools, handicrafts and splits are good for weaving. This bamboo makes an excellent screen.
