Phyllostachys bambusoides McClures Castillon

P. b. 'McClure's Castillon' bamboo has golden yellow culms and green grooves. An occasional leaf has a cream colored stripe. Used as an ornamental. The original PI 41659 flowered in 1965 and was lost. The PI Grif 13908 was originally obtained from a source in Japan who reportedly induced the plant to stop flowering by applying greater than normal amounts of nitrogen fertilizer. There are two reconigized forms. Ours is the less varigated form described first by F. A, McClure.
